Photo by @stephenwilkes: Over the course of my career, I have captured stories on everything from tragedy and decay, to hope, happiness, and beauty. Sometimes these overlap. In my years as a documentary photographer, there have been a few images from each story that stand out, all sharing a common theme: a haunting beauty in places where little existed. This photograph was taken at Yellow Mountain, or Mt. Huangshan, in Anhui, China where a single plastic bag fluttered across a serene and beautiful landscape, reminding us of the reach of items we have discarded and long forgotten.
