Photo by @pedromcbride on assignment for @natgeo // Alice Johnson Wilson has lived her entire life on the Navajo Reservation on the plateau above the Grand Canyon's sacred confluence of the Little Colorado. She is a traditionalist herding sheep and only speaking her native Navajo tongue. She fears a tramway proposal to the confluence and hotel on the rim in this region would destroy their historic way of life. Others argue the project will bring jobs - thus dividing some in the community. The Navajo president, the Grand Canyon National Park and Hopi leaders currently oppose the project.
