Photograph by @paulnicklen for @sea_legacy. An Arctic fox tucks its nose into its dense fur and settles in to conserve heat and energy during a cold snap. The Arctic fox lives in some of the most frigid extremes on the planet but does not start to shiver until the temperature drops to −70 °C (−94 °F). A fully grown adult weighs an average of only 7 pounds but they are well adapted for a life in these extremes. #follow me on @paulnicklen to learn a lot more about my favorite polar species. #nature #wildlife #fox #arctic #climatechange #globalwarming #changingarctic #love #beauty #smile @thephotosociety @natgeocreative by natgeo
