Great Photo of Delta II failure Jan 17th 1997. I worked on pad SLC 17 A for the previous launch of Mars Global Surveyor. The next vehicle to be launched from this pad was a GPS bird GPS 11r-1. Unfortunately, The vehicle blew up seconds after liftoff destroying much of the pad. Here's why.
